Vientiane Capital, 2^nd of February 2026 – IPL welcomed Rebecca Grais, Executive Director of the Pasteur Network, and Nick Chung, Strategic Development Officer for the Asia-Pacific region, for a two-day visit to the institute.

The visit provided an opportunity to review IPL’s scientific activities and institutional development, including its research platforms, laboratory and surveillance capacities, training programmes, and contributions to public health in Laos and the wider region.

Discussions were held with IPL’s leadership and scientific teams to exchange perspectives on current research priorities, capacity-building initiatives, and opportunities to further strengthen collaboration within the Pasteur Network, particularly across the Asia-Pacific region.

The visit also highlighted IPL’s role in supporting science-based approaches to emerging public health challenges and contributing to regional cooperation through research, surveillance, and training.

During their visit, Rebecca Grais and Nick Chung toured the institute’s ongoing building extension project, which will provide additional laboratory facilities and office space to support the future growth of IPL’s activities.
