Vientiane Capital, 14ᵗʰ of March 2019 – Dr. Moritoshi Iwagami was awarded the Professor Tsutomu Takeuchi International Memorial Award during a ceremony held in Tokyo, Japan, on 14ᵗʰ of March  2019.

The award was presented by Professor Shigeru Kamiya, President of the Ohyama Health Foundation, in recognition of Dr. Iwagami’s contributions to research in the fields of parasitic diseases and tropical medicine in developing countries.

Among the achievements highlighted during the ceremony was Dr. Iwagami’s involvement in the JICA/AMED SATREPS Project on Parasitic Diseases in Laos, implemented in collaboration with IPL and national and international partners. The project has contributed to advancing research, surveillance, and control efforts targeting parasitic diseases of public health importance in Laos.

The award recognises Dr. Iwagami’s longstanding commitment to scientific research and capacity building, as well as his contribution to strengthening international collaboration in the field of tropical medicine.

Mrs. Reiko Takeuchi, wife of the late Professor Tsutomu Takeuchi, also attended the award ceremony.

IPL congratulates Dr. Iwagami on this distinguished recognition and acknowledges his valuable contribution to research and public health initiatives in Laos.
